I have the same issue and I do have Java installed.
The issue is with Banco do Brasil site. The applet that usually hangs is
the one which checks if the computer being used is authorized to do
online transactions (tclID).
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, we have a
tclID
I can confirm this behaviour. I had Grip configured as preferred application
for CD's in 7.10.
After upgrade to 8.04 (via update manager) the preferred application defaulted
to Rhythmbox.
I also set the dropdown to custom and entered grip as the command (as it was
previously)

Meanwhile I found a workaround:
Evince has its own printer dialog, and there the option pages per sheet works
fine.
So I can just print to PDF first, then open the PDF file and print it again
with Evince, where I set the option 2 pages per sheet.
So the bug remains but is of minor importance
affected_people++;

I had the same error. After a system upgrade (gutsy to hardy) openoffice
would install. Removing the openoffce.org* from /var/cache/apt/archives
did the trick. Thanks!!
