couldn't find out.

Pretty much same thing happened to me. I dragged a separator on the
panel and everything disappeared. I restarted my computer with no luck,
and now only have programs, I can't see any of my files. I've run a few
commands:

Xubuntu 7.10 shuts down perfectly when Shutdown is selected.

They all had worked correctly in Edgy.
All 3 PCs with the problem had upgraded to

Its not a lot really, a couple of paragraphs rewritten, an explanation
of lshw's new output (about a paragraph) and some restructuring.
Essentially, reference to Hardware Information was removed and lshw was
used for the first stage of troubleshooting.

I run Ubuntu 8.04 on Advent 7026 laptop. If I disconnect it from the mains
while running, I always get a hard-lockup. If I power it on running on a
battery, I get a hard-lockup right after logging in or leaving the system
running with the 'welcome' screen for a brief time (
