I think I was trying to install on 8.04 Hardy.
Anyhow I just compiled it from the source, and it works.
I had sort of the same problem with Adobe Acroread, but downloading the
.deb package from Adobe's site worked.

The latest driver seems to work for me (on msi wind) , except that the
connection is dropped some times and I have to unload, reload the module to get
it work again... But this doesn't happen very often, only when the computer
stay on for a long time.
Also I've fount that this driver has the

This is not an alsa-utils issue but a kernel issue (specifically alsa-
kernel/driver). People are mistakenly thinking that restarting the
alsa-utils initscript fixes things, but note that doing so only stores
and restores, in that order, the volume levels. The reason that

created (in my case it's mostly gnome-screensaver), but it disappears
*before* the CreateNotify goes out. This is because gnome-screensaver
