To clearify: I had a test kernel prepared for Brian which contained those fixes
by Ilpo. However this did not solve his printing problem. So there is still the
question which parts might be missing. Maybe there are several things getting
together. So currently we either miss something or there

Totem often uses up to about 70% cpu (Core Duo T2500) while playing
audio (measured with top so this is 70% of one core). This is a recent
issue for me (less than a few weeks).

in my case during bootup, regardless if the power cord is connected or not i
