this could not be normal - in /etc/security/limits.conf there is no limit
configured, and I dont know,

1. Open Synaptic and install torbutton-extension, privoxy and tor
2. Open Firefox 3, torbutton is not showing (as already noticed)

I think a related problem in checkgmail is that in Preferences --
System Tray all buttons can be checked or unchecked, it doesn't make any
difference. I thought the idea of the system tray checkboxes (new, no
new, error) was that you might want the system tray to NOT show up in

Same here, I've tested Ibex Beta with similar results: random lockup of
the nextwork device whenever traffic levels are quite high (transfers
over the Full dupley 100 Mbps LAN).
Disabling and enabling the network cures the problem as so does removing
and modprobing again sky2 module.

You don't need to uninstall, just don't use jockey to configure your
xorg.conf then (it only changes it when you enable/disable a driver).
Please copypaste the output of these two commands (from a Terminal
window):
lspci |grep VGA
lspci -n|grep VGA

There has been 5 months since this bug was reported, and still, there is no
improvement at all.
I can confirm this same bug for the latest Ubuntu 8.10 too.

When entering terms to search for in adept, it filters out nearly all sensible
results.
eg if I enter git-core it shows nothing but if I just put git it shows
git-core and a bunch of others.
or linux-image shows nothing but just image shows linux-
That is only partially true, as apt wont have any problems fetching the
info if any other server is down (not only talking about the official
repros, for example medibuntu or redmoon or gehringnet or whatever)
So if you just might take a look if there is any method of a workaround
