So I did end up seeing the refresh problems while using the aplattner-
patched compiz and Emerald. After turning Emerald back off, no refresh

Well, the applications need to be converted into actual modules for
systemsettings. I am not sure we will archive this for Jaunty, I do hope

Francois Romieu from the kernel bugzilla has committed the fix upstream.
