Same problem here. Eric's workaround works for me, though.
It's great that we contacted upstream but is there nothing else we can
do about this? Intrepid effectively ships with a broken config tool for
NVIDIA cards because of this and I doubt many unsophisticated users will
be able to find this
i also can't solve this with setting V4L in gstreamer-properties instead
of V4L2.
probably we should remove V4L2 from the pwc driver, as it doesn't seem

I investigated the bug and found the cause:
hr with width 8388599 or less is OK
hr with width 8388600 or greater cause problem
Body background color must be set!
It is probably a 32 bit bug because 16777216/2=8388608.
(bit of sign)
And perhaps hr has padding or margin (2*4=8).

I too appear to have at least a similar issue. I was viewing flash
videos in Firefox when the system froze and both my caps lock and scroll
lock keys started to blink. This required a hard reboot. Required
files are attached.
Computer: Dell Vostro 1400 2.2Ghz Core2Duo running 8.10 final
Forgot to mention I did not note a change in fan speed either.

Nevermind, I was using the above PYTHONPATH trick to use the branch
which didn't pick up the template changes (would be nice to support
running from bzr checkout though!). After I had a local package of
r269, it generated a proper source.list and started installing the
proper kernel. Will report
