I apologize for the bounce. I must say I do not understand why this
cannot be fixed for Intrepid. Its an easy fix, just one line in the
package, and it would be so much clearer for the users. I myself found
the solution quite fast, but I see that many other users didn't. If it
can be done simpler.

I confirm what keneida said. After upgrade from Hardy to Intrepid nm-

Removing compiz did not solve the problem for me. As a workaround,
disabling DRI in xorg.conf seems to allow a user to log in normally.
Compiz will not work in this case and rendering is noticeably slower.

I was able to get 8.10 to install and I had problems until I got my
custom DSDT put into the kernel. But 8.10 is so freaking slow... So

Unfortunately the backtrace is pretty much useless without debugging
symbols. Installing kdemultimedia-dbg should provide debugging symbols.
Due to the nature of this crash (random, uninstigated) it will probably
hard to get the crash to occur again, so I am going to close this bug.

What kind of wireless network did you connect to?
Did other PCs on the same network had access to the internet?
What is the name of your wireless device?
Did you install
This bug was connected to the Moodle package which I don't use anymore.
Whatever was happening with postgreSQL was being done by Moodle. Sorry I
don't know the specific answers to your questions.

sudo dpkg -i nvidia-96-kernel-source*.deb
it tells me no such file found
i rechecked if nvidia-96-kernel-source is installed and sudo apt-get
install nvidia-96-kernel-source tells me newest version installed.

This is an valid bug/issue. At this moment you can select VPN
connections and configure vpn and it does not work. It should work,
be an extra button to make it work, or not be there at all. See full

I opened this a few weeks back as it's just a feature I'd like to see
added to kboot if someone has time at some point. It's not a bug it's
just not supported yet AFAICT :)
