hold off on KDE4.

I have the same problem after updating to Xubuntu Intrepid.
My laptop is a Thinkpad 61s with an Intel 965GM chipset. Older versions
of Xubuntu had no problem handling the external display correctly, but
after updating to Intrepid, X always starts using the resolution of the
internal display
I can also confirm that the -K option is not working with version 2ubuntu1.
In that version, the -y option was introduced, and with -yK my compiz key
bindings are working (mostly).
There are a couple problems with this:
Ctrl+Alt+Enter doesn't work, but I get around this by specifying the

is not being mounted from /etc/fstab
When identified people are recognizing the UUID is misidentified in
/etc/fstab. blkid -m provides the correct UUID which can then be copied

I experience the same bug.
I can work around it by starting evolution from a terminal. Probably
starting it with --component calendar would work too, if you wanted to
use a shortcut from the GUI.

Don't overestimate my guessing on encoding. On a second look, the
specified charset and Encoding is for the content - which was in my test
case empty dummy files. Will test further, but unfortunately only
beginning of next week.
