I guess I should also mention that audio is fine when not muted - even quiet
parts of tracks are fine - no distortion.
The noise only happens when it is muted.

I am running 32bit Ubuntu 8.10 and I installed using the meta packages:
ubuntu-virt-mgmt ubuntu-virt-server.
When I attach an ISO to an Ubuntu VM (thats all I've tested) it flashes
the TCP/IP Error message and the VM stops running. When I first
installed Ibex and the ubuntu-virt-server manager

Booting off the Intrepid release Live CD, X came up just fine. Xorg
logfile shows my video card did not have known PCI ID so the vesa driver
was used instead of nv.

I updated from kubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 shortly before 8.10 was released and have

Upgraded from Heron to Intrepid via Update Manager and
Intrepid did not recognize graphics card:
ATI Radeon Mobility M6 LY.
So not r300 chip set and also no proprietary drivers in use.
I've run feisty, gibbon, Heron Alpha, Beta, LTS, without
problems.
Had to reinstall Heron, and will not try
how can I test the latest mesa?

My mistake was that I was looking at the Debian sources instead of the
Ubuntu Intrepid sources.
I do believe there is a minor mistake in the patch for Intrepid though.
The if-statement is not commented, thus leading to an imbalance.

be working fine, but now the wireless keeps dropping. I will find them
