In this bug report, I used anonymous (guest) access to the share. I
changed the login policy and now I have to specify a username and
password. In contrary to the above bug report, a user is able to mount
the new configuration without problems. It seems the bug is related to
guest access.

This is actually correct behavior. The APACHE_RUN_USER variable is set
in /etc/apache2/envvars. If you use apache2ctl instead of apache2, then
you won't get errors. The same is true of the init script.

I have another interesting behavior from the computer: The problem did
not manifest itself when the X was started in single-head mode and some
time later I plugged a monitor with X running.
As it was expected, I plugged the external monitor on the machine, fired
up the screen resolution utility
I forgot to mention that this also happens with the default
CtrlAltDown key binding if the ctrl and alt are on the right side of
the keyboard. And I believe something similar happened with the
metacity pager also, but I am no longer certain.

The resolution was low and the text wasn't rendered correctly. It looks
as if the DPI setting was wrong, i.e. the text was rendered too small to
be readable. I'll be happy to answer any further questions.

Unable to reproduce in amd64 Intrepid (using the Ubuntu packages for
octave-image, new in Intrepid, and octaviz), but note that the original
report was on i386.
That error could be the packages not being loaded (though image is
supposed to autoload on Octave startup): try 'pkg load all'.

When I mute Front Mic Bust in gnome-volume-control - squeak has
disappeared, sounds play whithout problem.
