I have a similar problem. Setting the CapsLock option to Caps lock
toggles shift so all keys are affected (the shift cancels caps lock
option disappeared in gnome about a year ago), I get the desired effect
(shift does cancel caps lock), but the keyboard caps lock light no
longer functions.
I can confirm that this issue still exists (I have Kubuntu Hardy, ATI
X300)
Commands like: xawtv or v4l-conf cause black screen. After switching to
another console (alt+ctrl+F1) and back (alt+ctrl+F7) I see my screen again and

I basically did the same as Scott S. First time I tried to install it, I
stepped through the initialization sequence and it crashed when I hit

Database is corrupt after migration from Ubuntu 7.4 to 7.8 to 8.4.
Possible solution is export databse content to sql file. Delete
database. Allow f-spot to recreate it. Edit the exported sql file to

So I did and fresh install of 8.10x64 via usb and then upgraded to
jaunty via #update-manager -d# and TA-DA, it works!!! Full 1280x800

You may not want to call this a bug, but to a user the behaviour is
indistinguishable from a bug. When something is installed, the user
expects to be able to execute the program without having to figure out
that it's been somewhere elsewhere than in his path. At the very least,

Unfortunately, as of now, if the nvnews.net forums are an accurate
indicator, the nvidia 180.** betas seem to introduce more problems than
they fix (screen corruption, flashing,etc). As far as I'm aware the
only way to install the beta drivers is through nvidia's installer.
