I see the same thing as originally reported. I'm running Kubuntu 8.10
with KDE 3.5 (yes, the older KDE), 64-bit, nVidia proprietary driver
177.82, Firefox 3.0.6. Doing anything inside the Add-Ons window is very

1. Stay with the Nvidia drivers and only use its settings tool to control dual
monitors;
2. Uninstall Nvidia drivers and then capplet will find the external displays;
In case of 1, shouldn't Ubuntu disable the "standard" screen resol

yes you need to get the stacktrace while it's frozen which will tell
where it hangs

When I use the System>Preferences>Sound Preferences and do a test:
Autodetect returns the white noise, when using the PnP Audio Devise USB
audio (ALSA) I get the folloing message - audiotestsrc wave=sine
freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Could not open
audio device for play
I was not able to reproduce this using:
* Jaunty amd64 host
* Jaunty amd64 guest
* 3 x 2G qcow2 disks
* no virtio
Total install took ~10 minutes.
