After further investigation, my problem is definitely related to this
bug. I was mistaken that xmodmap works with the USB keyboard initially,
it does not work. Xorg.0.log is indicating that every few minutes, the
USB keyboard is reloaded, because of a Read Error. That is why I lose
my xmodmap

I would like to ask for a feature freeze exception for gksu 2.0.2 (and libgksu
2.0.9). Its mostly
bugfixes and as a new feature it now reports the exit status of the child. I.e.
now you can do:

...a follow up. The active window is the one affected with bits and
pieces of it randomly appearing and disappearing at perhaps 1/100 of a

I just did the system updates and it is now working so it seems to be
resolved as it is now using gnome-games version 1:2.24.1.1.-0ubuntu1. I
suspect this is a temporary fix until things get cleaned up with the
newer version. Thanks for your efforts at tracking this down patching it

I think it's fair to say that the lightbulb notification is not
working well enough. It's good for people who notice this sort of thing,
but it's not something that's immediately obvious, and it doesn't scream
for attention if it's initially ignored.
