I know that. Could you test sharing *a directory in a subdirectory of
your home directory* (for example, sharing /home/rems14/shares/Public).

I believe that this problem has been fixed in a corresponding debian
package (via a small and specific patch). It had been very nice if this
could have been applied to ubuntu too - and also in Hardy (LTS) where I

Upon opening Firefox web browser my desktop panels are hidden behind
browser. There is no --[]X on top right of browser, and the only way to
do anything else is to quit Firefox completely, and the only way to

I'm not an expert on audio in Linux (one of the reasons I use Ubuntu --
it usually works). This is a Compaq Presario CQ40 and I am using the
Jaunty Jackalope amd64, installed with the alternate install CD image,
encrypted hard drive.

in intrepid the microphone worked perfectly fine. there was a Front Mic 1 or
Digital Mic 1 volume slider.
I upgraded to jaunty and no microphone. when you plug one in it works fine.
I tried upgrading to the latest alsa version but that didn't help.

sorry. i dont really understand what the term flashes of other open
windows means. Please rephrase and update summary/title of this bug
with a better wording. include screenshots if possible; also include
step by step instructions which often clarify a bunch of things.

firefox is misbehaveing
disregard what brian suggests. if you followed his instructions remove
those files/packages again and install flashplugin-nonfree (or in jaunty
flashplugin-installer) again. Your problem is that you are using swfdec.
Remove swfdec-mozilla package from your system:
sudo apt-get remove --purge
