The problem why the alternate pdftops does not work is that it produces
non-DSC-conforming PostScript but advertizes it as DSC-conforming. This

Binary package hint: totem
Currently in totem, whenever you load a subtitle from a file, the movie
restarts. In every other movie player that I tried, movie continues to
play without any interception. That should be the case for totem too.

I tried it and it works. It's quite trivial (for a developer) to test it. :)
These are the steps for gnome:

I use filters to put new received and sent mails (the latter with
support of "Send Filter 1.0") into folders. If the destination folder is
somewhat deeper in the folder hierarchy this folder alone shows the
asterisk and the number in braces in
