It may have something to do with what Windows wrote to the drive prior to the "Safely Disconnect" routine. Try attaching it to the Windows PC again, accessing it, and then just pulling the USB connector without using the "Safely Disconnect" function in Windows. That may eliminate the problem.

Just out of curiosity... Why wouldn't this be prioritized as High instead of Medium? Considering its the only known bug on this device and that fixing it would move it from a Tier 2 device to Tier 1. That's a huge plus for Ubuntu... As I have mentioned before we aren't looking for workarounds.
