It may have something to do with what Windows wrote to the drive prior to the
"Safely Disconnect" routine.
Try attaching it to the Windows PC again, accessing it, and then just pulling
the USB connector without using the "Safely Disconnect" function in Windows.

Sounds right. It is only the portion about installing or setting the
system language that fails to run. AFAIK this is added by Kubuntu and is
not a KDE issue.

libsvrcore-dev) which are also along Tim's upload.

Ok, I had two more freezes today - so far...Last night (early this AM) I
managed to go a few hours without a crash: used Firefox and watched a
couple of videos - including the dvd I was watching when it crashed
earlier in the day (though with a different player).
The first crash happened just afte

I don't know what you want to point out exactly. We already know brightness
works under kernel "2.6.27-4-generic" and doesn't under jaunty 9.04 (i.e.
kernel 2.6.28-11). if we don't fix this bug it will not be solved in any kernel

i have the exact same problem on ubuntu jaunty (9.04), fresh install,
card is X800 pro. Not sure if im doing it wrong, or ATI still havent
fixed it yet.

As suggested I installed generic kernel and I think the problem is much
less frequent, but if I quickly move from one time frame to another I
still manage to crash X server.
How come that the server kernel worked with 8.10 without any problem.
