I downloaded karmic alpha-2 netbook remix and have tested the apps. I
don't get a segmentation fault and the pands3d apps launch fine.

Although the undirect fullscreen windows fix worked for me, I still
believe that my bug has been marked as a duplicate of this one in error.
The author of this bug states that garbage appears on the screen when a
popup appears. In my case I can confirm that it is always the desktop
background.

I don't know what you mean by locked, but my computer first produces
some silly softreset errors and then normally reboots after 2-3 minutes.
The only way this bug affects me is an extremely long boot time.

Actually, with the KDE 4.2.4 PPA enabled the corruption went away. Now
that I've moved to KDE 4.3b2 the corruption has not returned. I think
that implies that this is a kde4libs issue indeed. I intend on checking
a Karmic alpha or early beta before closing, however.

For me all photos ended up in my home directory without sub-directories
for dates. So after moving all my photos to the right place a slight
modification of Martijn's database update was needed. Note that all the
filenames for my photos start with dsc. I hope this is useful to
someone.
Many people map aumix to their sound fn keys (iirc, it's easier than

When/where does this happen? Do you mean the tooltip that appears when
you hover over icons in gnome? You should file this bug against a
package in Ubuntu e.g. nautilus when this happens in gnome (not only
against the papercuts project).
