Ok, solved, it was linked to an "Helvetica" font I did install (using a
low-quality ttf, I think). A lot of sites ask fot Helvetica, so it was used,
and meant many problems (the system did consider it as lower than it was - so,
low text background, low selected text,...).

I have experienced the same problem, but it occurs much later than
bootup. (Perhaps it should be logged as a different bug.)
My host is Ubuntu 9.04 amd64. My guest is 32-bit Windows XP. Same meta
packages as Robert Rittenhouse.
I have tried closing and opening the machine from the Virtual Machine
I'm not sure if my problem is related to the pdftops filter but it's certainly
worse than before.
I installed the fix from proposed:
$ sudo apt-get install -t jaunty-proposed cups
and then i added the LJ4000 printer in our office via samba
then i printed the attached postscript file, the result is

When I delete image(s) from the database from the thumbnail view while
deselecting the option to delete the picture from disk, and then click
on a thumbnail, kphotoalbum crashes.

I don't feel that is on topic with the usability bug at hand. We are
talking about a GUI aspect of the "System" menu (found beside:
Applications, Places...) in Gnome Window Manager.
People can always forcefully reboot using CTRL + ALT + DEL, or shutdown using:
shutdown -h
halt
poweroff
Or even reb
After downloading Firefox 3.5 (stable) from the mozilla-security PPA,
this bug is still present. Will a fix or the given work around be
packaged with Ubuntu's build of Firefox 3.5?

i.ve packed the same song but then in a .zip format and i have the same
problem.
I think the bug is the is "unpack" window and not in handling the
achives. The program unpacks perfect. But first i have do the steps that
i described the first message.

I have a Minolta bizhub 420 that's configured to accept printings from
authenticated users only.
With acroread 8 it works fine, now acroread 9 doesn't get configured options
from .lpoptions (user) but from generic options (system).

I humbly suggesting upping the importance for this bug. It's a BIG waste
of paper, and it's here since 2 years ago, so a bit of pressure to solve
it wouldn't be bad. And to issue backports at least back to LTS and
Intrepid.
It's not a difficult one to trigger... help save the trees :-)

i think for firefox the gtk way of applying the gnome settings fonts
seems to have no effect. e.g. ffox only uses fontconfig.
