Maybe I did not explain clearly. X refused to start when I had installed the NVIDIA video card, while fglrx was still installed. After I installed the NVIDIA graphics driver and removed fglrx X started working again, so I doubt this bug should be filed against the NVIDIA driver. -- switching ati
