This problem still seems to be there in Kubuntu Karmic Alpha 6 -
although the mean time before playback glitch on my system is now closer
to 20 minutes than 5.
I installed a fresh copy of Kubuntu Karmic Alpha 6, installed libxine1
-all-plugins, and tried to play the 720p .mkv file from a network
I'm running into the same problem on a fresh install on ubuntu 9.0.4.
It won't accept my input for the qualified domain and prints out the
following to stderr AFAIK:

This will probably cause strange things to happen!

(1) The new line in parameters thing means that somehow debconf thinks
there is a newline in a previous stored response to one of its

all have no effect and the problem remains.

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate an useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

Of course I read about SoftwareStore. But the add/remove dialog wasn't
replaced by SoftwareStore. Neither the add/remove dialog nor the
SoftwareStore are in the menu.

I can confirm this problem on karmic. Alle upper case file names shows
up as lower case (i.e. UPPER becomes upper) while mixed case file
names stays unchanged.

GDM used to have the option to launch failsafe sessions but this was
removed in the rewrite. There is a bug in upstream bugzilla adding
support for this again and we should use it to add a failsafe gnome-
session.

GNOME again. Running a failsafe session disables compiz and all user
startup items. The most important one is compiz in case users have
problems logging in because of

Thanks. When I run the tee pipe, it does not end at all after logging
out. There is no gnome-session process any longer, but a host of other
processes writing to the pipe. Only after killing each and every of them
manually, the pipe ends.
