I'm still having this. I'm otherwise extremely pleased with karmic
koala. The UXA acceleration seems to work great on my machine. About
this bug though, it's funny it only happens with kdm as login manager.
If you switch to gdm, you can start and exit kde sessions without
problems. So what
Florian - the (partial) solution from #35 is still working for me - with
the restriction that Pulseaudio updates usually overwrite
/lib/udev/rules.d/90-pulseaudio.rules with a plain vanilla version so
that I have to re-edit it to get things going again.
In general (looking at the Pulseaudio bug)
I'm getting the same symptoms under a 64bit virtualbox.
Totem can play an MP3 with sound, but not an MP4 file's sound.
Video from the MP4 file works fine. The MP4 file works with sound and video on
9.04.

I already stated in two other comments that starting gdm manually works
just fine. :-) In fact that is the only reason my netbook is still
usable. Basically I am always left at a command prompt when I first
boot. I login then run `sudo /usr/sbin/gdm` and I'm up and running.
While this is a
antistress, I'm not sure - after thinking about for some time maybe an
Export ... menuitem isn't the best either as you then can't make the
settings now available in the print dialog (such as scale). What do you
think?

I have this on Three in the UK, but AFAIK, it's an issue with the
provider (teleco/ISP) not sending it. Disconnecting and Reconnecting
from the menu once generally solves it, but network manager should have
the sense to do this automatically.

Thanks for your answer. At the point I sent the bug report it was a
problem in Jaunty, but not in Hardy... weird.
Now I checked it again in both Hardy and Jaunty, and looks like I can
indeed print to PDF printer with 700 permissions. Probably some
installed update solved the issue.
Btw, if you feel this is an isolated incident and not wide spread I'm
happy to re-install and hope it doesn't happen again. I just wanted to
be sure this wasn't a) widespread or b) indicative of a larger issue.

I have a hard time seeing that they don't send it, since it should have

Sorry, of course. Intendedly added --install-layout=deb in debian as
well to be able to sync.

I had my disk sleeping with hdparm -S 12 (60 seconds). It has no
activity (and it's unmounted) so I should stay sleeping for very long
time. Even so, the disk is constantly waking up (every 15 minutes or so)
and then sleeping again and I get these errors on dmesg:

As far as an end user is concerned , the export option has nothing to do with
print.
So , it is wrongly placed in the Print... dialogue , and , less chances of
discovering this option.
Ideally , These options should not be hidden away inside Print... menu item.
