I'm having this problem in the Karmic beta. Upgraded from Jaunty using
dist upgrade.
Generally using the command alsa force-reload will fix it temporarily,
however I have just changed audio output to Pulseaudio in VLC
preferences and so far it seems to have fixed it perfectly.

It seems to me that this is fixed in the patches committed from #418197.
Can anyone else confirm? I was able to delete around 2.6 million links
and files in a single rm -rf, which would previously cause a lockup in a
minute or two.

Same here. It crashes more often than not. I just switched from an OSx86

Small note - it appears that on the initial popup window containing the
text "Press next to install these plugins" that there should be a list
of plugins to install (if my memory of older versions serves me
correctly). Not only is the list blank, but there is no list widget.

I like Alessio's suggestions, and he does have a good point about
symbols based on English not being the most accessible tool for this
indicator!
Simple symbols seems to be the best route. I do think that conforming to

I've provided a very comprehensive report which should illustrate, if
you read it, where and why the documentation is confusing and I've
suggested that this be looked at.
It seems a bit odd to just close the bug without even a single request
for additional information.

As a side-note, the reason "128 bit" WEP keys are 26 hex digits is that
internally only 104 bits of shared secret are used (hence 26 hex
digits), plus 24 randomly generated Initialization Vector bits.
