I am feeling the affect of this too. Sometimes its works well but usually its
so slow it's unusable. This is on my wireless connection and I am unable to
test (due to my particular setup) the wired connection.

Plasma
I could reproduce the problem. The crash occurred when I tried to
play a FLV video file using Totem Movie Player 2.26.1 using
GStreamer 0.10.22 which is the default player in Ubuntu. The
video file in question was
Type - Flash video (video/x-flv)
size - 47.2 MB (49491413 bytes)
Duration - 18 m
Now in Karmic the unnamed devices disappeared BUT the tooltips for the
physical devices still do not list PulseAudio devices.
The only way to use PulseAudio is to choose the device named

and then reboot the machine and then I used gnome-display-properties, this

I can confirm that I have the same bug. Dbus is running. I have tried
reconfiguring consolekit, policykit, xorg, and gdm. They have done nothing.
Booting with rw also did nothing. My computer is fully up to date. I don't,
however, have the /proc/1043/environ warning that dino99 had. I don
Odd, there is a session opened for 'nobody', which apparently
originated from your session, but doesn't have a console attached.
Could you please attach the output of
ps aux | grep nobody
to see if you have any processes running as that user.

fstab, and it's still mountall that hangs on boot.
Just tried with the latest mountall from the boot ppa.. I could provide

I do subscribe to this bug/wishlist. Gnumeric is my main spreadsheet
application and the version currently shipping in Karmic is very
unstable. Updating to version 1.9.12 should solve many of the bugs.

1. Screen lock would come on in the guest session, and ask for a password,
which of course does not exist. [fixed]
2. Switch from User -> Guest -> User tries to open a second guest session,
which fails.

I commented out the line in /etc/X11/default-display-manager to suppress
the graphics login while debugging changes to /etc/X11/xorg.conf. When
