I believe this is the same root problem as I'm seeing in Karmic. The
vpnc generated nameservers get added to the *end* of the resolv.conf
list, rather than the beginning. Thus, nameserver requests for hosts
reachable over the VPN connection fail because the non-VPN nameservers
respond first

It seems that after upgrading to Karmic you are still
booting a non-Karmic kernel. There may have been an
issue updating grub during the upgrade.

I can confirm that that the apport fix works. I did a upgrade 0.126.6
and it enabled apport during the upgrade. After the upgrade apport was
still enabled. When I then enabled karmic-proposed and installed apport
it disabled apport again (as expected).

I still seem to be having a problem. I tried printing Aufgabe01.pdf on a
fresh install with all updates applied (as of 20 minutes ago). Two pages
printed, but each was blank except for what looks like gibberish at the top.
I've uploaded photos of each page to this comment, as well as the log file

search in /boot/grub/menu.lst for the line # kopt= ...
append i915.modeset=0 to the line
looks like
# kopt=root=/dev/... ro i915.modeset=0
update-grub
and it will be added in the parameterlist on all kernels into all
version if you make a kernel update

Solved.
The problem is with kernels 2.6.28 and 2.6.29.
In kernel 2.6.30 or 2.6.31 boot without problems.
