@Ahmad - yeah very annoying bug that affects laptop users every day they
use Ubuntu; But Gnome is I think mostly unfunded community development,
so if we don't like we should fix it ourselves, sponsor someone to fix
it, or be patient. Canonical should have an interest in fixing this as

I am running a 64-bit system and never seen any significant problems
until upgrading to 9.10.
I ran a 64-bit Gentoo installation on this machine for 18 months and
except for minor issues (e.g. sound or wifi) I never had any problems(I
recall trying one of the Gentoo 2.6.30 kernels, but never used
I did a update with the update manager however this crash might of occurred
before i did the update, i was half asleep when i checked the results (usually
everything just works) i am using virtualbox and if i continue to have
issues will resort to using a earlier snapshot and doing the update

My environment is: Ubuntu Karmic, Evince Document Viewer 2.28.1 (running on
poppler 0.12.0), printer HP LaserJet 4050PS.
Workaround: change printer driver from recomended (HP LaserJet 4050 Series
Postscript) to HP LaserJet 4050 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.4.
The result is that I can print from evince
This bug as about the ENABLE_LAPTOP_MODE having nothing to do in package
acpi-support (another package).
(It was introduced there because some ubuntu dev once stuck an old unmaintained
laptop_mode scipt into acpi-support instead of using proper laptop-mode-tools
package, and later
I am using KDM

The OxygenOffice and the base of OpenOffice.org in Ubuntu are same, the
ooo-build system. OxygenOffice has few more extras in different packages
that can be part of the Ubuntu (Universal?) repo. Chris, what is your
opinion. I wrote a letter to you with the suggested packages. Did you
got that
