I have followed the wiki page advice for debugging kernel suspend
(linked above) and obtained a copy of dmesg but I don't think it shows
anything interesting. It is attached anyway.

I have this same exact issue on my Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop. When there
is an SD card in the card reader slot then suspend fails and the kernel

I have compiled three Ubuntu Jaunty kernel packages based on Brian
Rogers' findings upstream for bug 456902 (similar to this but for 845G
chipset) and made them available at http://www.kvante.info/845Gfreeze/ .
They may also work in Karmic, but I'm not sure. This may turn out to be

I think the problem is that there is a significant post-boot delay before
resolv.conf is updated. It took ~ 90sec (after gdm start) on last boot.

under Windows (this is dual boot machine), writing speed is ok.
I confirm that writing speed is low under k3b (0.11x - 0.22x) on Karmic
Koala kubuntu.

I read one similar to this bug but it is not that same, the one I read
said it couldn't log even using the shell (alt-ctrl+f1) I am able to log
in using the shell but I cannot log in using Gnome after a user logs
