In order to make the fakeRAID array bootable, i tried the fakeRAID guide
and then copied the grub files manually to the boot folder after half
the steps on the guide failed to work. As the system was still
unbootable, I tried grub 1.97 instead. It

Sadly though Epiphany crashes on a very large number of webpages where
it didn't previously and Firefox is fine on the same pages. Haven't
tried Galeon yet. I don't get this problem on my laptop which is also
x86_64 but as it has Intel graphics rather than nVIDIA I guess it is the
nVIDIA issue

The status icon hides automatically when you disable multiple keyboard
layouts. That seems sane enough, unless you want multiple keyboard
layouts with the status icon (although, I don't know how you switch
layouts then)
