Yes it is reproducible. I just installed qdvdauthor again and the movies

Sometimes dmraid finds metadata when it shouldn't (either because of
previous uses of dmraid, or because of a bug). Have you tried booting
with the 'nodmraid' option? It's on the F6 menu on the live CD because
some people need this.

Please could the severity/importance of this bug be raised. I would
consider a bug which has been prevalent for almost 3 years, which caused
extreme slowdown of the entire desktop when there is any kind of high
disk activity, to be pretty serious. This drastically affect my usage
and productivity
