I have just tested this on a EeePC 1008 HA and I cannot reproduce the problem.
The Fn + F11, F12 and F10 works as expected.
Testing using Lucid (up to date).

the comments in the upstream report are related to the old plugin
implementation. Starting with the 6b18 pre-releases the NPPlugin i used.
I'm told that this plugin does work on other distributions with
chromium, so this looks like a misconfiguration in the Ubuntu build.

If any package is related it should be the linux kernel package,
definitely not usplash. However, this is only a BIOS
capability/configuration issue, so I'm also changing the status to
invalid.

my driver consists of two parts, r852, the lowlevel driver,
and sm_ftl the high level driver that provides xD compatable FTL.
The udev rule I gave should load the sm_ftl after a card is detected by r852.
If its isn't loaded lsmod | grep sm_ftl
try to load sm_ftl manually
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: munin
When installing munin-node on Hardy-Server (i386 and x64), the plugin
initialisation fails.
Reproduceable with munin-node-configure --shell:
r...@ncore:~# munin-node-configure --shell
ln -s /usr/share/munin/plugins/ip_
Please confirm this is still an issue with current Rhythmbox. Also check
the volume applet to see if the Rhythmbox volume is set to 0.
