I've run into this same problem after converting root to ext4 after a Lucid
upgrade.
As soon as any files used by grub (kernels, stage1, etc) get converted to
extents, grub fails.
Running grub-install from a Lucid livecd CD did not help:
mount -t ext4 /dev/sda2 /mnt

OK, I've cracked it. It's something to do with the interpretation of the
VCARD data that Evolution holds in its database. I exported some
contacts that worked and some that didn't and noticed that the ones that
didn't work had the missing data in the VCARD file, except there's a
difference. The
And whoever triaged this as Low importance should be disembowelled.
Before looking into this a little more, I was quite happy to trash at
least Evolution and possibly Ubuntu completely. Any application that
(apparently) throws away my personal data is a waste of electrons.

Running 10.04 64bits, the same message show up BUT it seems normal. I've seen
the following behavior:
The message show in /var/log/messages; afterward it's the first one of
/var/log/syslog. Log seems to have been rotated.
If I execute something like that:
$ logger -t test This is a test message
Xfce4-mixer was completely rewritten for Xfce 4.6, that's why it needs
to be readded manually to the panel after the upgrade. Anyway, 4.4 to
4.6 upgrades are now anecdotal, this bug isn't trivial to fix, so it's
not really worth to spend time on it (with Xfce 4.8 coming).
