Lucid with Empathy 2.30.1, had the same Network Error issue. Solved by
closing Empathy, killing /usr/lib/telepathy/telepathy-butterfly and
staring Empathy again, will report back if it happens again. Is there
any info missing in this bug or is this, as stated above, an upstream
problem ?

I have the same problem. My internal mic for recording is somehow disconnected,

From the comments it sort of sounds like each person has a separate
issue, but near as I can tell all are pulseaudio usage errors moreso
than miro bugs. I've heard pulseaudio is quite a bit better in lucid,
so I would suggest each of you to re-test lucid for your issue and file
a new bug report

P.Constantine's workaround failed for me identically to the fake module
approach. This resulted in the same session immediately times out with

You are right that tearing appears even without Compiz but this could be
circumvented by using OpenGL video output and activating vsync for
everything in the AMD Controlcenter. This workaround doesn't work with
Compiz so the main problem is with Compiz.

Brian - yeah sounds like a reasonable idea, certainly would improve
things in that situation. I'd recommend that you go to upstream with
this issue though, as we don't get that far into development of miro in
Ubuntu. Once you file the bug upstream, if you'd like you can also link
