Reinstalling metacity did not help me. The problem seems to be with gdm.
As soon as gdm as been started, my laptop goes in standby mode (don't

Well, i messed up things trying to fix this problem, i've been following
different directions and one of them was to install a backport module for
wireless.
Nothing worked so i decided to remove and then reinstall the broadcom driver, i
did it but after that i was total
I've updated to kernel 2.6.32-22-generic and I'm experiencing the same
problems: after a reboot I'm able to mount DVDs and CDs and burn DVDs
for a few minutes, then they stop working until the next reboot.

I also seem to have this problem but it is not RAID/MD, just encrypted
LVM. I installed Lucid on my Thinkpad laptop a few weeks ago - a small

Yeah I've been updating boxes all weekend. Rebooted a few times too. I

Still not working for blank DVD-RW for me, everything else ok. I'm using

If I insert a disk into my CD/DVD drive, nothing happens (not shown on desktop,
rythmbox, no traces in syslog). udisks --monitor-detail shows nothing, although
udisks --enumerate / --show-info and dmesg show the drive properly.

Although the version of enchant in Ubuntu is newer than the version in
Debian (1.4.2) it does not have all the Debian specific changes that are
in the Debian version such as support for the dictionary transition that
happened last year.
I can do the merge if you would like.
I just noticed today that I am getting a USB error message during boot
with Lucid:
"hub 1-0.1-0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 2."
This is not happening with Karmic (I just confirmed this with my Karmic
Liveboot CD), but it is happening with both my Lucid Liveboot CD as
well as my Lucid
