I've been dealing with this since I switched to 10.04 a couple months
ago. It happens regularly (every 2-3 days), but I don't know exactly
how to reproduce. I can confirm that using rightOf with screens in the
correct order does not reolve the problem.

I tried to compile several kernels from kernel.org with debian methods.
After that I tried to let them run under Ubuntu. All of 2.6.32 have this

GParted requires both dmraid and kpartx to properly function with
FAKERAID. The Ubuntu 10.04 Live CD did not ship with kpartx and this is
why GParted will not automatically detect FAKERAID setups.

With SATA disabled in the BIOS, I installed Lucid via the amd64 desktop

I've noticed that if you install from the nvidia installer from nvidia's
webiste, it sets up libglx.so as a symbolic link (eg
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so - libglx.so.256.35), but
xserver package upgrades will overwrite this link with a non-nvidia
library. This then stops 3d effects
Alright, it's working for me now, after installing a backported maverick kernel
from the kernel ppa. For those of you who don't feel comfortable with
recompiling the kernel this seems to be the way to go:
1) Add deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kernel-ppa/ppa/ubuntu lucid main to your

For me too every time I do an apt-get upgrade, I have to let the
machine there for a while because it becomes unusable. The mouse is
always freezing and everything is lagging with the iowait at avoir
80%.
I have a AMD Athlon 64 with 2 gigs of RAM and a SATA drive. Changed
the harddrive too and
