Actually it appears that network-manager creates its own dnsmasq fomr the
dnsmasq-base package.
It ignore any and all settings in dnsmasq as the conf file is only set and
included in the dnsmasq package (not the base).
It is called and appear with ONLY command line settings.

I can confirm this on a clean install from the Maverick 20100816 Desktop

Unfortunately, it seems that this bug is still in the wild for Lucid, as
I ran into it earlier today. The next time it happens I will try to
collect information using apport _while_ the issue is occurring (eg: I
will use an on-screen keyboard to run the necessary commands).

The Rhythmbox plugin works like it currently does because the two
relevant inhibit flags that gnome-session provides are 'suspend' and
'idle'. 'Suspend' (as far as I know) inhibits all suspend operations,
including user-initiated ones such as closing the laptop lid. WIth the
older version of the
Suspend works perfectly on T500 with 9.10 all kernels up to 2.6.34.6. It
seems to be broken for Maverik 2.6.35 kernels. Works once or twice, but
suspend hangs later and the notebook is frozen.

I think what may be causing this problem may be these packages
libavcodec52
libavformat52
libpostproc51
libavutil50
libvpx0
xine-vdpau works well with this package installed, mplayer only does give this
problems with the packages mentioned above
