Today morning I executed the apt-get update; apt-get upgrade and after
rebooting the computer, audio started to work. I did not monitor, what
packages were updated, sorry.
So from my point of view, the error does not exist any more and it could
be closed.

Okay, attached is my .xsession-errors file. I can confirm that the
shutdown/restart/logout problem occurs regardless of whether I bring up
the menu with the applet or my computer's power button - I click Shut
Down or Restart from the window that pops up (Example:Are you sure
you want to close all
Also, this problem has occurred despite my reinstalling Lucid several
times, and the problem persists in Maverick as well.

Binary package hint: inkscape
Pasting the unicode character U+FFEF to a textbox this will lead to a
crash of Inkscape while saving the document as PDF. The character must
be inserted via copypaste otherwise Inkscape would not accept it.
This is reproducible on Ubuntu
