I have the same problem with em350 and ubuntu 10.04. Front microphone is not
working while external is ok. I just try to install the realtek driver from
http://www.realtek.com/ but nothing has changed. I still have no sound from the
front microphone.
The same thing happens with Ubuntu 10.10.

When trying to install anything with Ubuntu Software Centre, the qeue says
Waiting for apt-get to exit. I cannot get anything to install.
I have a few questions here to allow us to narrow down you problem:
- with skipping seconds, you mean during playback it will suddenly jump from
the current position to a position a few seconds in advance and also the audio
that you here is affected, right?

Same here:
pulseaudio[1578]: ratelimit.c: 299 events suppressed

I just recognized that synaptic has finished applying the new option -- after
about 30 minutes of no response (I did not kill the process because I wanted to
see if anything happens eventually). During that time synaptic occupied my CPU
by around 90%. Thus, Synaptic does not crash as mentioned
