I agree about this being a possible timing issue, yesterday upgraded to
10.10 on three PCs:
Dell Latitude 640C (P4M 2.4GHz) running Kubuntu - No problem
Athlon 64 Socket 939 x2 4200, with DDR RAM running Kubuntu 64-bit - No problem
Athlon 64 Socket AM2 x2 5600, with DDR2 RAM running Ubuntu 32-bit
I have the same issue in Meerkat (2.6.35-22-server, x86_64).
Confirming that it worked (i.e. did not have the issue) in Lucid. Same
computer. Same hardware. Same architecture (x86_64). Only change done
was a 'clean install' from Lucid to Meerkat with all updates and
upgrades that it asked for.
Thanks to an advice from Brian who sent me a private message. I found a
solution to make suspend/resume working on Maverick with standard kernel
2.6.35:
Add the line:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=acpi_sleep=nonvs
to
/etc/default/grub
Then make:
sudo update-grub
and reboot
Suspend/resume should work now
This patch (against faad 2.7 from sourceforge) stops the segfault. I
tested it works on a 32 bit platform as well (as it should since int
pointers are 4 bytes long on both LP64 and ILP32 platforms).
