buffer_state sysfs entry added by this patch-set?

I was able to get the old kernel to work again by doing this:
update-initramfs -u -k 2.5.32-24
Booting there I realized the sound still didn't work correctly. This is likely
a separate issue, bug #674386
Issue with splash screen/boot hang of course remains.

If it would be possible to switch between graphics cards then consequently it
would also be possible to turn off the one you don't need. It seems like there
is a lot of effort being made for the master bug, I don't think another project
will start just for this one as this is just a subset of

Many java applets looks ugly, not matter which browser is used. Same thing is
with icedtea plugin and sun's java.
There are scrollbars which shouldn't be displayed and font rendering is weird.

I'm not sure whether this is related, but on upgrading to Maverick I too
had the issue of grub dropping to a minimal shell. It was coupled with a
message about udevadm trigger not allowed when udev not configured. A
workaround was to stop grub from using UUIDs. For me using Grub 2 this
