Not really (and it wasn't me who did that). It's a good solution that we force
every application to set WM_WINDOW_ROLE properly and handle the saving and
restoring of position in the window manager.

I may be reading this patch wrong:
lp:~brightbox/vmbuilder/exclude-first-cylinder
but that would appear to create the first partition 63 sectors in. If
so, this is incorrect (note I haven't tried it).
Technically you should get the geometry from the disk, but most disks
(not all) have 63

absolutely no configure switch for gold/ld have been used:

But if pulseaudio is using the device even when sound does not work, it

This is no problem, but it might have been fixed in 10.10 or 11.04. Can
you test the Ubuntu 11.04 Alpha 1 Live CD please? It can run as a Live

That's just me getting my tracks and cylinders mixed up then. It
should be 'ignore first track'.
The MSDOS convention is to avoid allocating the first 63 sectors (ie
0x1 lots of 512 bytes about 32K) and that is where grub hides
itself.
