(1:2.3.1-2ubuntu2) to the latest one available on Debian's website (1:2.3.2-1).

Here's a update for this bug.. kinda lame workaround but it work!
when the screen is black switch to tty1 CTRL+ALT+F1 , login then
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
it should restart gnome and everything should be fine until the next
battery power boot (repeat each boot).

Yes, that has fixed it... although I see now that there never was a
problem! The EPS was opening with the window zoomed to fit the page.
When I maximised the window, it was not scaling accordingly.
I'm happy to close this as invalid, assuming that you don't see a
genuine bug here.
