Kernel consistently panics in the xhci stuff when I have this drive
hooked to the USB 3.0 ports. It does so when the installer starts to
access the disks, or when the installed system does so. I was able to
install by hooking this disk to a USB 2.0 port instead. I didn't
on what media did you try? usb-creator should create some persistant
storage by default, it's an issue on CDs though

I agree that this is desirable, but fear that it may be too late in the
Natty cycle to add.
The problem is that it is slightly non-trivial to apply the correct
solution; which would be to have Zeitgeist log the downloads from all
apps (Firefox and Empathy probably the most prominent). This way
and therefore changing the following line in /etc/default/acpi-support
STOP_SERVICES=
to
STOP_SERVICES=networking
has solved the crash on suspend resume.

I caught a photo of the pixelization I mentioned in comment #14. I suspect this
might be a different bug, but I'm not sure. It happens pretty repeatedly after
waking from suspend.

Possibly solved - just spoke to my Internet provider; they tested the
line and found some errors including DNS problems. So it looks like it
was intermittent hardware problems in my providers network.
