I removed the obsolete language-support-writing-no from oneiric, which

You are right: Technically syslogd did cause the hard drive spin-ups.
But it did this due to the laptop-mode messages; did mount the /var/log
directory as tmpfs as a temporary measure.

I do not get this. It sounds to me like some kind of Win/Mac clone
speech. You seriously want to say to community "a Dock CAN'T"... I
thought Linux was better than that, it was built to "CAN". Minimizing

While attempting ticket's workaround (comment #42) using the "Disk
Utility" application, I still experience the following error in 11.04:

there, but after a state change it appears. I'm running a eeepc 1005HA.
I recently upgraded from 10.10 and I have all updates installed.

yes after reproducing the bug you have to reboot but NP, errors are grabbed in
logfiles.

It seems that I no longer get any notifications at all from any
applications, with one exception: volume changes (the ones that are
flush to the top of the screen) still show up. Not sure if this bug
should therefore be reported against another package.
