In my case, I'm not able to find the asyncq.c: q overrun, queuing
locally message in logs after Apr 19th. I installed the packages from
the ppa on Apr 21st, so it's been almost a month without the message in
the logs.

Sorry, this must have been an operator error on my end. Rearranging the
connections fixed things. I could swear it was working properly before
the clean install but another input was clearly plugged in the wrong
place so it may have been broken for a while.
Sorry to trouble you with the bogus
Also doesn't seem to impact JuffED, which is a similar application, so
for now I'll have to say this is Gedit specific.
