Ok, great! Thanks for the quick response. I did just now get finished
testing the packages you attached in #21 using my lucid box. Saves of a
256Mb guest went from ~50 seconds to ~3. So it does seem to fix the
issue. I can set up a Maverick box if you need it tested there as well.

Actually maverick is waiting for a fix for bug 790145 to be verified,
but lucid is free. I've uploaded the proposed fix to lucid-proposed,
it's waiting for an SRU admin to approve it. I will also post the amd64

Still present in 11.04. I installed window-picker-applet and I couldn't
add it to the top panel. I had the OAFIID:GNOME_WindowPicker error.
But yesterday I added it to the bottom panel without problems, and I
switched panels. When I booted this morning I got the same error.

I had same issue just after updating to linux-image-2.6.32-33-generic.
Tested with few external HDD, same effect.
Rollback to 2.6.32-32, HDD safely remove works fine.

I had same issue just after updating to linux-image-2.6.32-33-generic.
Tested with few external HDD, same effect, doesn't matter have HDD power
supply or take power via USB.
Rollback to 2.6.32-32, HDD safely remove works fine.

If I start SimpleScan without opening its settings Text-scanmode works well.
But if I open the setting of simple scan (even don't change anything there) and
try to scan again, Text-scanmode looses its settings for
black/white/contrast,etc. and looks like a Photo-scan.
