I can confirm this problem with an onboard and an usb sound card. After
every new login, only the onboard card is controlled by gnome-control-
center sound. I have to manually switch the cards.

Well, rest assured that I didn't install them manually so they've must
been installed with the package somewhere along the road (I haven't done
a clean install since Maverick). Reinstalling the plymouth package
doesn't however restore this symlink so I'm almost sure that it happened
during update
This does not appear to be an Ubuntu bug. The failure was caused by the
user's own (non-packaged) /usr/local/bin/perl which was broken.

If eth0 in /etc/network/interfaces, it means root (via scripts in
/etc/init.d) is going to start dhclient for eth0, and NetworkManager
will not touch the interface. For server, this is a very important
feature because we would like to have network connection

I have tested on Natty now and for me the PDF queue does NOT get
generated. The problem is that CUPS gets restarted and immediately
afterwards it is tried to create a queue using the commands lpstat and
lpadmin. The daemon needs a little time until it listens to requests

Hmmm, gnome-format is dead upstream, replaced by Gnome Disk Utility, as stated
in the landing page of that app:
!!!Gnome Format is not being actively developed anymore!!!
Please have a look at the Gnome Disk Utility, it is far more feature complete
and will be part of Gnome 2.28.
