I can confirm this problem with a Samsung ML-2580 Series printer.
Duplex printing worked flawlessly in Ubuntu 10.10. With Ubuntu 11.10 it
still shows the Duplex-Print options in the print dialog, but the
setting has no effect.
The problem occurs in all tested programs (Libre Office Writer,
@Neo139, That's why the mount helper has been removed. It introduces a
security vulnerability so the issue is resolved by not installing it on
users systems going forward. Just like with any other program a user
will need to update to take advantage of security fixes.

Honestly: I find neither Gnome 3 nor Unity to push Ubuntu or Linux much
further on the desktop. For me both are not intuitive although I have
seen a lot of different GUIs and Desktop environments and consider
myself being flexible in adopting to new/other environments.
Since 10.10 I tested all
Unity makes Ubuntu unusable is definitely not true. I do miss a lot of
configuration options and I there is a lot of behaviour that I find

When i try to do 'sudo aptitude install libjpeg8-dev', it throws a list
of packages that ought to be removed to satisfy dependencies, however i
don't want them to be removed. I also don't see, why dependencies
shouldn't be met, because if fresh libjpeg8-dev is provided, then
