Workaround: all kernels will boot and run fine if I add nosplash
nomodeset to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT. I have successfully
upgraded to Oneiric, but can only run with the VESA driver.

I also confirm same problem.
Couple minutes ago I installed updates with Update manager, and after restart
could not boot any more.
I selected 3.0.0-12 in grub and booted as usually.
Using Lubuntu 11.10, fresh installation.
I this can help, my root partition is Luks crypted, and system

would expect it to on oneiric).

This is presumably due to demotion of squid in favor of squid3. I'm
assuming the squid.conf shipped with squid-deb-proxy will need to be
adjusted accordingly.

The fix below worked, but the bug has returned: after the most recent
kernel update (I think) I no longer have sound through my line-out jack.
Uname -r returns: 2.6.35-31-generic-pae, but I see in the Synaptic
Package Manager that only up to 2.6.35-30 is listed for driver modules.

When coming back from sleep, the system tries to connect to a different
WiFi network, although the previously used network is still available.
Since I usually don't have credentials for the other networks in range,
a window pops up, which is very annoying. I'd expect
