did not change between oneiric and precise,. In oneiric, it works:

I do not think it is a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/887983
because messages didn't have to be huge to freeze the preview pane.
But I found a workaround that seems to work since a
Public bug reported:
KDE as well as many QT-Applications use QPrinterDialog as their printing
dialog. Thing is: This dialog ignores default settings defined in CUPS -
it doesn't even remember that last settings that were chosen. I know
this is a QT issue but I kindly ask you not to close this bug

wifi if applicable

I have reverted the proposed fix for this bug in ppa:vanvugt/compiz, but
kept the critical timing fixes which I think will still help
significantly. In theory this might eliminate some jerkiness (skipped
frames). Please update and try the new version vv7. Let me know if
