As promised, I'm right now using 3.2 but on Ocelot, and, it apparently
the bug is fixed, as I'm writing this, I'm copying/deleting about 5gb on
an external usb2.0 HDD and had no system lock ups yet and speed is
acceptable.
I couldn't install due to dependency issues obviously
Added colord and removed cups, since this is definitely a bug in the
applications. Please add applications which you suspect of doing this.

Yes, i think that would be a wonderfull idea.
Specially because the system does not complain in any way, it just dosnt cache-
just spend a few hours on this.
the nfs share was mounted with -o fsc, but that made no difference or error.

So the answer to my question (#16) was that the resolvconf Upstart job
was failing to start at boot time because of #927803.
The misbehavior reported here (#929552) occurs post-boot so I am
doubtful that it has the same cause.

The debdiff is built against Debian version and it doesn't touch
SConstruct directly (there is a patch for SConstruct from an earlier
Ubuntu build).
And yes, bug 869420 is fixed upstream too.
